Who are we?
A little bit about us…..
We are five residents of the Alton Estate that are concerned by the developments of the Alton Area Masterplan. We live on both the East and the West sides of the estate.
What have we done?
We have provided leaflets to many residents on the east side of the Alton asking them to complete the questionnaire for the Preferred Option Masterplan.
On Saturday May 10th, by the Danebury Avenue barrier, we started collecting signatures regarding various issues raised as a result of this Preferred Option Masterplan.
We have been in contact with members of the Alton Area Masterplan planning team, members of the Council and our Member of Parliament (and Member of Parliament candidates) asking for further information and expressing concerns over various aspects of this masterplan.
Why are we doing this?
We believe that this planning process has been flawed and has not been listening to the view of estate residents, or if the views have been heard that these have been ignored.
There have been many concerns raised, though the main five that have been focused on to date are;
- The opening of the Danebury Avenue barrier,
- The opening of Highcliffe Drive barrier,
- The concentration of students in the town centre,
- The new path into Richmond Park, and
- How this masterplan has been handled.
Are we involved with the local elections on May 22nd?
We have been asked a few times as to whether we are running for the May 22nd local council elections. The answer is ‘no’.
We are doing this to represent our concerns, and hopefully the concerns of the estate residents.
Can we be contacted?
If you have been contacting the Council regarding this masterplan we’d love to hear from you.
Or have any concerns about the masterplan please do let us know.
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
We will try to keep you updated as often as we can regarding progress.
Hopefully this gives some understanding about us and our involvement.
All the best,
Steve, Nieves, Dermot, Tim, Abi
