What is the Roehampton Partnership (RP)?
As a reminder, the Roehampton Partnership is the main advisory body for Roehampton with regards to the regeneration and consists of various people and organisations that apparently have a link to Roehampton.
This slide being taken from Wandsworth Borough Council Paper No. 13-242.
The meeting of 9th September
We attended the special meeting of the 9th September which was not advertised to the public, again…..and there was a presentation on the September status of the Alton Area Masterplan. It was interesting to note that given documents had been published on the Wandsworth Borough Council website as part of the agenda for the Housing and Regeneration Overview and Scrutiny Committee for Tuesday, 16th September, 2014 7.30 p.m. though these documents were not distributed before or at the meeting.
The RP…….fit for purpose?
We suggest that this advisory body is not fit-for-purpose for various reasons. A high level overview is that they;
- Don’t advertise their meetings,
- Do not do much in the way of advising on the Alton regeneration,
- Do not like to be challenged on its failure to adhere to its Constitution,
- Some members have a poor attendance record (which is unfortunate given it was restructured in March 2013),
- Has only started to place information on the Team Roehampton website under scrutiny from Alton residents, and
- Does not resolve conflicts, such as the mention at the July 8th meeting by one member that Consultation questionnaires were designed to provide the Council with the responses it required.
In fact, with regards to points 1 and 3 we stated at the end of the meeting that the Constitution is flaunted and that this body needs a public face. Let’s see whether this will be mentioned in its Minutes. This had to be mentioned as they refused to place on the agenda at either the 8th July meeting (where it was distributed though not discussed) or 9th September meeting, the document we produced asking questions of them.
To highlight why the RP is not fit-for-purpose a document has been put together to highlight how these body does not fulfil its Constitution.
If of interest, one ‘Roehampton Resident’ that is on the RP has asked for a representative of Transport for London to attend the next meeting. This resident had previously stated their preference of having the K3 come through the Alton.
As it stands
This advisory body has some way to go before it fulfils the reason for its existence and we ask that residents assist us in not only keeping an eye on this body though making it accountable to Roehampton residents which is currently not the case.
