Roehampton Voice Issue 19
If you haven’t seen the Winter 2014 Issue 19 edition of the Roehampton Voice it’s worth a read and we have a few thoughts regarding this issue.
Back page – ‘What’s On’.
We think it is great that this recently added feature appears though find it a shame that the Roehampton Partnership is not mentioned. We have mentioned this ‘outside body’ a few times and our Councillors have this recognised on their Council profiles, yet it is never publicised. Why?
The next meeting is Wednesday 3rd December at 7.30pm at the Roehampton Club, The Fountain Room, Roehampton Lane SW15 5LR. For further information please contact Ms Ozu Okere, 020 8871 6035, email@example.com .
Page 2 – Will Roehampton Library survive?
This is a question that we too are interested in and have asked the Council regarding this. We, the residents of Roehampton, need to be vigilant in keeping an eye on this ‘vital community asset’.
Page 3 – A Resident Writes
We too find the proposals to build on more dwellings in Bessborough Road quite shocking, especially as there has been no ‘consultation’ regarding this. There has been no ‘questionnaire’ regarding this, which was the case for the Alton West. How can such an under the radar approach be considered acceptable?
Ironically, on the same page, there is a mention of the ‘Roehampton Trust News’ and the Roehampton Trust has mentioned on a couple of occasions, one being the July 8th Roehampton Partnership, that no such ‘consultation’ was provided on this.
Page 7 – We live here – on the Alton Estate
An oral historian would like you to get in touch with him to provide your thoughts regarding the regeneration.
Page 11 – Why protect buildings, which are not worth listed status?
There are many on the estate that would disagree with this article, especially with regards to the comment ‘today hardly anyone would choose to live on the Alton Estate of they had a choice’. We are aware of people that have moved to the Alton, who did and still do have a choice.
