Background

At the Roehampton Forum on 6th March 2015 meeting, item number 10, had as an agenda item called “re Ibstock Theatre”. An Alton estate resident spoke about this theatre, which is currently being built, and whether this facility could be something that the community could utilise.

Another Alton estate resident raised the query about what car parking provisions have been made for when this theatre is in use. This is not the first time this resident has raised this question at the Forum.

A little bit about the theatre

The Council’s Planning Applications Committee 6th June 2013 document states;

“The building would comprise a main auditorium that could potentially provide 330 seats”

In Application Number: 2013/0803 (Date: 11 June 2013) it states that;

“The proposal has been granted planning permission for the following reasons: The development of a purpose-built Performaing Arts Centre (PAC) would result in the improvement of educational facilities at Ibstock Place School and create a facility that would be made available to other schools and community groups”.
