Putney Labour – Roehampton News (June-July 2016 edition)

20160825b

Some comments…..

June/July edition

True, the author of this article received this edition some point from 29th July to 14th August.

Alton Activity Centre Closed

Great to see the petition still going, though how many signatures are signed up and what’s next? Roehampton & Putney Heath ward Councillors raised this at the Roehampton Partnership, had the motion passed, then what?

Sue supports Roehampton community groups

Whilst this is important, there is no mention of what is happening with the community group in the Alton East whose community centre is to be demolished as part of the “Alton West” regeneration. Has this community group been engaged to understand whether they are fine with what is being proposed?

Alton East developments

This is gaining traction and there is no mention of it. Disappointing.

Alton Area Regeneration News – July 2016

20160821b

The issue of not every house on the Alton Estate not receiving a copy of the Alton Area Regeneration News continues and this was mentioned at the August Alton Regeneration Watch. Unfortunately, the July online edition of the newsletter was emailed to those on the Council’s database on Monday 1st August.

Some brief comments regarding the newsletter.

Section: The very first sites and new homes

There is no real detail as to what is proposed for the Alton East, for instance, is Heanen’s the butchers going to return when the new Petersfield Rise shops are built?

The picture seems to focus on the back of the building rather than the shop front. Wonder what the reason for that is?

Wouldn’t it better if there was a map of the area showing what is being proposed? Council Paper 16-277 provides background to what is proposed and could have summarised within the newsletter.

Section: Rents, service charges and Council Tax in new homes

There is no firm commitment to service charge costs, only the word “expects” with reference to service charges remaining the same or lower. For freeholders being offered a leasehold property this will be a new charge?

Wouldn’t an example of how the costs of what is now the case versus what it could possibly look like be of use?

Parking – in future

There seems to be a commitment to increase the car parking from its current size.

Applications

23rd July application – well, this has two entries for the ward and both are for the Roehampton Club. One of the projects requires 41 neighbours to be consulted. Worthy of being discussed at the Roehampton Partnership one might think?

30th July application – Horndean Close is in the action this week.

Decisions

23rd July decisions – 3-5 Alton Road SW15 4LF looks as though it is being demolished to make way for new housing. It is quite close to the proposed Petersfield Rise development that is being undertaken as part of the Alton Estate regeneration.

30th July decisions – there does not appear to be any for the ward this week.
