Bessborough Road Consultation – some thoughts….

Alton East residents the Bessborough Road Consultation is one which you might wish to have a look at. This blog has already highlighted that not everyone that should have been made aware of this consultation is aware of this consultation and the following are some thoughts on the content of the consultation as highlighted by one Alton East resident. It’s an interesting beginning for the Alton Estate regeneration.

 1-4 Sherwood Lodge, SW15 4AD

This building is to proposed to be torn down and replaced by 10 apartments as highlighted by the following;

3 x 3 bedrooms for 5 people

3 x 3 bedrooms for 4 people

2 x 2 bedrooms for 4 people

2 x 2 bedrooms for 3 people

You’ll see from the following picture that there is car parking space which circles the building. In this photo there are three cars parked though it might fit one or two more. So, let’s say that at least five cars could presently park here. [If readers have a different view please do let us know].

The car park in between Sherwood Lodge and Petersfield Rise shops

At about 12:30 on Sunday 3rd December 2017, it was counted that there were 15 car parking spaces marked out with lines and 13 cars were parked within them. In addition two cars were parked in the parking area which were not within the marked car parking spaces. So, let’s say this area can accommodate 17 parked cars. [If readers have a different view please do let us know].

Presently, that makes at least 22 car parking spaces though the current consultation is going to have space for six car parks. At this point this seems to mean a net loss of 16 car parking spaces?

Around Petersfield shops

It is suggested that there will be three “New van drop-off/parking spaces on Petersfield Rise and pavement improvements”. Hmmmm, now this seems to amend the net loss of car parking to 13 spaces?

In summary

It seems that;

  • Alton East residents will have less car parking?
  • There will be more homes and therefore possibly more cars?
  • For Alton East residents troubles they get in return “pavement improvements”?
