Some comments…..

June/July edition

True, the author of this article received this edition some point from 29th July to 14th August.

Alton Activity Centre Closed

Great to see the petition still going, though how many signatures are signed up and what’s next? Roehampton & Putney Heath ward Councillors raised this at the Roehampton Partnership, had the motion passed, then what?

Sue supports Roehampton community groups

Whilst this is important, there is no mention of what is happening with the community group in the Alton East whose community centre is to be demolished as part of the “Alton West” regeneration. Has this community group been engaged to understand whether they are fine with what is being proposed?

Alton East developments

This is gaining traction and there is no mention of it. Disappointing.

Poor maintenance or just don’t care

ppt.pptx

Well, last night when walking back from Alton West to Alton East I noticed a couple of light bulbs not working. So, tonight popped out for a quick walk around the area and noticed that in small area of the estate that there were nine light bulbs out of action, yes, nine!

Four of these were on one building.

To top it off, I tripped on the footpath, though fortunately I kept my balance. I’ll show you where in the photos that have been produced.

Alton Youth Club to become a nursery?

Opportunities in Alton East

Interesting, the above photo was taken from the Preferred Options Presentation Board.

So, not long ago the Council stated that “The Alton Youth Club site and surplus land at Bessborough Road and Fontley Way are well suited for high quality single family homes”.

Now there’s a proposal for “Change of use from youth club (Use Class D2) to nursery/day care use (Use Class D1). It is proposed to have 20 members of staff and 65 children enrolled at the nursery”.

The latest stage of the application was registered on 14/09/2015 and it seems that comments are to be received by 05/10/2015.

Alton East – was there a consultation?

Background

This week we received a pamphlet from Team Roehampton which highlighted information about what was happening on Alton East as per of the Alton Masterplan.

[CLICK HERE TO READ THE PAMPHLET, AND REFER TO PAGE 2].

Has the actual plan been shared with the residents of Alton East?

That depends on how one defines the word ‘shared’. The plan itself was within the Preferred Masterplan Options presentation board which, as far as we are aware, was not distributed to Alton households.

[CLICK HERE FOR THE ALTON EAST MASTERPLAN].

It was not mentioned in either the Options or Preferred Options questionnaires.

[CLICK HERE FOR THE PREFERRED OPTIONS MASTERPLAN QUESTIONNAIRE]

Has this been queried?

Yes, twice by the Roehampton Trust.

The first time at the July 8th Roehampton Partnership – “……..added that despite living on the Alton East she was unaware of any information about the regeneration”.

The second time at the Let’s Talk evening at the 29th September.

 Summary

We’re not convinced there was any real consultation with regards to the Alton East. If there was, how could this be queried by the Roehampton Trust, a member of the Roehampton Partnership?

This ‘consultation’ seems to be a like one we read about recently in The Independent.
